Ms. Amina Montia

Member

Ms. Amina Montia is a Chartered Accountant, with over nineteen (19) years of post-qualification experience in a variety of industries internationally and locally. She has worked in reputable companies such as GEC Plessey Telecommunications and Sema Group Facilities Management in the UK.

She has held executive positions including Director of Finance and Administration of PHC Motors Ltd and Execution Head, Finance and Administration at the Microfinance Small Loans Centre, a very large department covering the whole of Ghana. She was the Financial Controller of Leo Shield Exploration, an Australian company, the Management Accountant at Sema Group Facilities Management PLC in the United Kingdom.

Her experience has involved organizing, evaluation, setting up and monitoring the operations and systems of companies, government and for non-governmental organizations (NGOs). She has helped these organizations meet their objectives and social responsibility in communities where they work. Through capacity building programs, she has trained associations of women on entrepreneurial skills development (business start-up and development), marketing, financial management, microfinance, leadership, assertiveness and effective communication.

Her interest in empowerment of women, led her to spearhead and set up Savannah Women’s Empower Group, Ghana (SWEGG), a non- partisan, non-governmental organization working for the economic and political empowerment in all the three regions of Ghana. SWEGG currently has over one thousand (1,000) members. The membership of SWEGG includes women from the grassroots, Shea butter processes, Shea nut pickers, farmers, entrepreneurs, bankers, educationists, students, researchers, development experts and gender equality advocates. She is currently the Convener of SWEGG.

She is the Board chairperson of SLID industries in Accra and sits on the board of Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA). She has served on the board of GPAK (a subsidiary of Graphic Communications Group Limited). Ms. Amina Montia is a member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. She did her graduate studies in Accounting from the Metropolitan University, formerly Polytechnic of North London.
