Alhaji Amadu Montia

Executive Director

Alhaji Amadu Montia is a seasoned and accomplished banker. He has been the Managing Director of Baobab Microfinance Limited since 2010. His enormous experience with (BoG) for twenty-nine (29) years, played a significant role in the current successes of BMC.

He served the BoG in different capacities especially the Banking Supervision Department for twenty (20) years undertaking on and off-site Supervision of Commercial Banks. He led examination teams to undertake annual on-site supervision of banks like National Investment Bank, Eco Bank, CAL Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Barclays Bank of Ghana, Standard Chartered Bank, Merchant Bank of Ghana (now Universal Merchant Bank), First Atlantic Merchant Bank among others.

He was involved in the preparation of annual budgets for Ghana which gave him the opportunity to work with international financial bodies likes the IMF and the World Bank under the Research Department of BoG.

Alhaji Amadu Montia also supervised a considerable number of rural banks, played a part in the liquidation of BHC and Ghana Cooperative Bank Limited as well as a significant role in the GCB rationalization of thirteen (13) of its branches. Alhaji Amadu Montia represented BoG on the Hajj board in 1983, 1984, and also from 1986 to 1987. He was a member of the Logistic Task Force of Redenomination of the cedi.

He has served on several board of directors notable among them is Agricultural Development Bank, Global Access Savings and Loans Limited, First Capital Plus Limited, ARB Apex Bank Limited, Borimanga Rural Bank among others. He has been the President of Northern Chapter of Association of Rural Banks since 2012.

He had all of his academic studies outside the country. He did his post graduate course in Economics, Development and Planning from the Institute of Economic Development Studies, Naples in Italy. He is also a graduate in Economics and Accounting from the University of Wales Aberystwyth, UK. He did his Chartered Banking studies at the Institute of Bankers, U.K at the S.W London College, London.

Alhaji, as he is affectionately called is happily married with children. He is a good communicator, result oriented leader, honest and ethical, decisive, motivates staffs and above all he has an extended eye for customers.
